At Bowwow Pet Care, our mission goes far beyond selling premium pet wellness products. We are a social enterprise dedicated to healing two generations at once: the isolated senior citizen and the forgotten senior dog.

The Story That Started It All

The heart of this initiative was born while watching my 89-year-old mother navigate the beautiful, challenging journey of caring for her 20-year-old dog, Dixie. Together, they faced the tough realities of canine aging — night-stalking, incontinence, deafness, and vision loss. Yet, through every obstacle, their bond of unconditional love kept them both moving forward.

This past December, Dixie crossed the rainbow bridge after living a long, beautiful life.

In the wake of her passing came a heavy, quiet house and a deep, aching loneliness for my mother. She longs for companionship, and there are thousands of gentle senior dogs sitting in shelter cages right now who desperately need a warm home.

So, what is stopping them from finding each other?

Breaking Down the Barriers to Companionship

When an older adult considers adopting a pet, they face overwhelming, real-world anxieties:

The Financial Burden: "How will I afford quality dog food and rising medical expenses on a fixed retirement income?"
The "What-Ifs": "What happens to my beloved dog if I have to relocate to a healthcare facility, or if I pass away? Who will ensure they are safe?"

These fears stall decisions, leaving seniors isolated and senior dogs without homes. We refuse to accept this as society's status quo.

Our Vision: The Phase 1 Pilot Program

We believe that two lost souls needing a connection shouldn't be kept apart by financial logistics. To bridge this gap, we are launching our Phase 1 Pilot Program with a fundraising goal of $100,000. This focused baseline is designed to eliminate every single barrier to senior pet adoption across our community, fully funding:

50 Fully-Sponsored Adoptions: It takes exactly $1,500 to completely anchor a senior dog and senior citizen for their entire first year together — covering shelter adoption fees, a 12-month supply of nutritious food, routine veterinary checkups, and initial starter wellness supplies.
An Emergency Veterinary Medical Cushion: A dedicated reserve fund to step in and fully cover unexpected, emergency medical surgeries so the senior citizen never faces financial panic.
Community Center Outreach & Interactive Tours: We are taking this mission on the road to senior centers and living facilities — hosting joyful meet-and-greet events and live cooking demonstrations to teach seniors how to prepare wholesome, homemade treats for their new fur babies.
The Forever Promise: Legal safety nets and partnerships with local rescues to guarantee that if a senior citizen can no longer care for their pet, the dog will instantly transition into a loving pre-arranged home.
